Removes the differences of opinion between husband and wife and sprouts them into intimate dampatyam. In Hindu mythology, Durvasa (दुर्वास in Devanagari) was an ancient sage, the son of Atri and Anasuya. He is supposed to be an incarnation of Shiva. He is known for his short temper. Hence, wherever he went, he was received with great reverence from humans and Devas alike. Kandhali was durvasa’s wife. She would never listen to her husband’s words. Unable to bear her behavior one day Durvasa scolded her and due to his short temper with his taposakthi he burn’t Kandhali into ashes. Soon after he realized his mistake and began to think.  He understood that the human’s should not have short temper for that sake Kandhali’s life history must be known to all. Immediately he turned the Kandhali’s ashes into Kadhali plant alias banana plant. He further said that no woman should act like Kandhali and if any woman behaved like Kandhali then the Husband of the woman should keep calm.  Hence from that day onwards Kadhali plant became a decorative plant in all rituals like marriage etc. and he insisted the marriage head alias purohit to narrate the Kandhali’s story to the newly wed and tell them to adjust each other if any problem arises. One who keeps the Banana flower sankh in the pooja room and remembers Kadhali, Kandhali and Durvasa will be blessed with a happy family life
